Warning of Postal Scam

The Police have advised that there have been a few incidents in surrounding villages of an individual following postal workers on their delivery rounds and stealing mail from external post boxes.

In some cases, it appears that the details obtained have been used to try to apply for credit cards fraudulently, without the homeowner’s knowledge.

The suspect is described as a black African male around 30 years old, 5ft 6″ to 5ft 8″, with a stocky build and short dark hair. He has been seen wearing various different outfits, but regularly wears an orange high visibility vest, similar to those worn by postal workers.

If you have an external post box please remove your mail promptly, and report anything suspicious to the Police by ringing 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency.
